Therapy can help you find the space to better understand your emotions
Sacramento Psychologist, Certified EFT Therapist and Supervisor, Founder of Sage River Psychotherapy
We start by listening to your story.
Before Sage River Psychotherapy was a practice, it was a promise—to meet people in their pain without rushing to fix it. That promise lives at the heart of everything we do.
We believe therapy begins when you feel truly seen. When someone sits with you—not to analyze, diagnose, or correct—but to listen deeply. Whether you’re feeling overwhelmed, shut down, disconnected, or just tired of pretending you’re okay, we start exactly where you are.
We help you make sense of your inner world—your nervous system’s signals, your learned patterns, your emotional landscape—so you can begin to move through life with more ease, more self-trust, and more honest connection.
Our team uses the science of relational neurobiology alongside a deep respect for your pace. Together, we help you rediscover the strength, clarity, and aliveness that’s already within you.
Come as you are. Stay as long as you need. We’ll be here.

Your first sessions will focus on understanding your feelings, concerns, and expectations, giving us a foundation upon which your therapeutic journey is built.

Based on your unique needs, we will walk you through strategies, techniques, and exercises that are tailored to you.

Therapy isn't static. Regular check-ins will ensure that you're on the right track, making adjustments as necessary to maximize your benefit.
The only requirement is a willingness to begin.
Absolutely. Beginning therapy can be a step into the unknown. But remember, therapy is a safe space. Your therapist is trained to support and understand, ensuring you always feel comfortable.
We start with a weekly frequency. This helps get the therapy off to a good start and get traction on working toward your goals. If after an initial period of sessions, you feel that it would be helpful to meet more or less frequently, you and your therapist will work together to find what works best for you.
Everyone’s journey is unique. Some notice immediate changes, while others realize the benefits over time. Regularly discussing your feelings and progress with your therapist can provide insight into your therapy’s effectiveness
