Sacramento Psychologist, Certified EFT Therapist and Supervisor, Founder of Sage River Psychotherapy

We start by listening to your story.

Before Sage River Psychotherapy was even an idea, I knew one thing for sure: I wanted to be the person who could sit with others in their pain without rushing to fix it.

As a kid, I noticed when others were hurting. I also knew what it was like to seem okay on the outside, while inside everything felt hard. I looked happy and put-together, but I didn’t feel that way. That disconnect—that loneliness—stayed with me and shaped my path. Becoming a therapist wasn’t just a profession. It was a calling rooted in curiosity, empathy, and a desire to understand what really helps the hurt.

Now, over 20 years into this work, I still believe in the same core truth: what we can feel, we can heal. Feeling and being friendly with ourselves isn’t weak. It takes courage to feel our feelings and having an inner friendliness is what helps us do that. And while my life outside the therapy room isn’t perfect, it’s rich. I’m a dad to three girls and a dog named Winnie. I’ve learned that coffee with friends, exercise, and meditation aren’t luxuries—they’re how I stay connected to myself. These are my keys and one of the greatest joys in my work is having a team who helps you find yours.

At Sage River, we help you move at the pace your body and heart can handle. Sometimes that means laughter. Sometimes it means tears. But always, it means presence—ours and yours.

Together, we re-map your inner landscape, making space for new experiences that help you show up with more honesty, courage, and connection.

Sage River Psychotherapy is built on the belief that your nervous system holds its own map—and when we find the keys to that map, life starts to feel more spacious, meaningful, and grounde

Whether it’s shame, stress, relational conflict, or burnout that brings you in, we’ll start with where you are, and we listen deeply. We help you understand what’s happening inside and offer real tools for shifting those patterns—not by force, but by compassion and curiosity.

We use the science of relational neurobiology to help you come home to yourself. It's not just about talking through things—it's about learning how to feel safer in yourself so you can live differently with yourself.
